PETG drinks moisture; dry it if it strings
- Give PETG a slightly bigger first-layer gap — it grips build plates hard (use glue stick as a release layer on PEI).
- Wash the plate with dish soap; PETG shows fingerprints as adhesion failures.
Printer check: enclosure — not needed · hardened nozzle — not needed.

The honest bit
Every material has tradeoffs. Here's PETG's full scorecard — the good, the meh, and the wrong-tool-for-the-job.
Where it shines
- UV- and weather-resistant — lives outside
- Handles ~75 °C where PLA sags at 55 °C
- Ductile toughness for brackets and clips
- Water-resistant, easy to clean
Worth knowing
- Strings if wet — needs occasional drying
- Grips PEI plates almost too well
- Slower and hotter than PLA
